At Hanami, we believe your athlete deserves more than just general instruction—they deserve coaching tailored to their unique position. While team practices are essential, too often we see Liberos stuck passing for hitting lines all practice or Right Sides told to simply "mirror the Outside."

We do things differently.

Along with two team-focused practices each week, every athlete receives a third weekly session dedicated entirely to position-specific training—at no extra cost. These small-group sessions are separated by both position and age (10–12, 13–15, and 16–18) and led by coaches who specialize in each role.

Athletes also benefit from a built-in mentorship system, learning from older players and helping to guide younger ones—building both confidence and community along the way. While players are required to attend their assigned position training, they’re also welcome to join additional position sessions, completely free of charge.

Our model sharpens individual skills, deepens understanding of the game, and prepares athletes to compete at a high level—ready to catch the attention of top schools and collegiate programs.

IN THE OFF SEASON

In the summer and off-season, we take training outdoors—incorporating grass volleyball into our routine. We believe that outdoor doubles play creates more well-rounded, adaptable athletes.

Grass and sand formats challenge players to develop all-around skills, improve court awareness, and reduce the risk of position burnout. They also give athletes the chance to explore new roles they might not experience indoors—helping them grow in unexpected and exciting ways.

Outdoor play is part of who we are. Hanami was born from Reno Grass Volleyball, and that same passion for outdoor play is woven into our identity.

By connecting athletes to both indoor and outdoor volleyball, we open the door to more opportunities in the sport—and build more complete players in the process.
